My first memory of hooping was when I was in early elementary school. Towards the end of the school year, we had field day where there were hula hoops. Turns out that I was surprisingly good at waist hooping and won the hooping competition that day. Ever since hooping has been a part of my life.
Later, I got really involved with dance, taking classes in tap, jazz, and ballet. I love performing, movement and the smiles I get from all of the above. I danced my way through high school on the dance team and even made it onto a very small select team while attending college in Baltimore, Maryland.
As an adult, I have always had hoops with the intention of getting super good at tricks and all that jazz. It wasn’t until 2017, when I was 20 pounds heavier than I wanted be and couldn’t blame it on “baby weight”, since my baby is now five, that I started getting serious about weight control I started working out and cutting calories hoping to lose weight, but was bored to death. I decided to have some fun and made hooping the major part of my exercise routine, and watched the pounds melt away. Doesn’t get much better than that!
Hooping has become a part of my everyday life, It has created a creative outlet for myself and I couldn’t be more grateful. I hope to share the hoop love with you!
